Managing your persistent fears, anxieties and stresses by Stan Popovich

Everybody deals with anxiety and depression, however some people have a difficult time in managing it. As a result, here is a brief list of techniques that a person can use to help manage their most persistent fears and every day anxieties.

When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, the first thing you can do is to divide the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

Viciousness Regnant: Humanitarianism as a Weasel Word by Dr. Binoy Kampmark

It may be time to reconsider the use of such words as “humanitarian” and “humanitarianism”.  There has been little of that sort evidenced in the Israel-Hamas War, marked by industrial-mechanised atrocities, enforced deprivation and starvation, orders to evacuate (read expulsion and banishment), preceded by massacres most haunting and visceral.  Its constant evocation by various sides of the conflict have given it a diminishing quality, leaving international relationsstirring with cant.

Mind you, the term humanitarian had already been pipped and emptied of any solid meaning in the aftermath of the Cold War.  Humanitarian intervention became a vicious, evangelised concept, enchanting such figures as the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair with its near biblical promise of saving souls and punishing the wickedin NATO’s Kosovo War.  “I saw it as essentially a moral issue,” heclaimed in his memoirs.  He would also go on to claim that war was “never civilised” but could be “necessary to uphold civilisation.”

Anwar’s ‘unity coalition government’ is beginning is beginning to crumble by Murray Hunter

Anwar’s Madani government has fallen into self-destruct mode. Over the last eleven months, the realties of Anwar and his government’s performance has become very evident, where even the staunchest supporters are becoming more disappointed.

The hopes of promised reforms have been replaced with disillusionment.

The stability of the Madani government is not as sound as it appears on paper. Technically, Anwar’s government has a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat. However, the reality would be very different, if any contentious legislation was put to the vote.

A few problems with the higher education curriculum by Joseph Gatt

University studies, well into the 2000s, were designed mostly to train employees for big business and government positions. That is, until the late 2000s, you didn’t need to go to college if you wanted to create a small business or work in some kind of secretarial position.

Since the 2008 recession, the prevalent discourse in universities around the world has been to tell college students “get out there are start your own business and become a global leader! Be the next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg!”

Problem is: the business studies curriculum at the university level is one that trains dark-suited corporate stooges, not business owners.

President Biden, Please, Drop the Charade by Dr. Habib Siddiqui

As millions of people have poured onto the streets around the world in support of the Palestinian people as Israel Defense Force (IDF) pounds Gaza non-stop since the surprise attack of the Hamas inside Israel, the western powers, led by the US, have come to show their unrelenting support for the murderous apartheid state of Israel.

In this war, truth has once again been twisted to justify the genocidal crimes of the Netanyahu government. The US president Joe Biden did not waste any time to voice America’s support for war crimes of Netanyahu. He called Hamas’s attack on Israel “pure unadulterated evil,” as he vowed, “We stand with Israel.””We’ll make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of itself,” Biden said from the White House.

“I never really thought that I would see, have confirmed, pictures of terrorists beheading children,” said Biden, who described attack as the “deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust”.

How to deal with the stresses of working in the business industry by Stan Popovich

Do not let your anxieties get the best of you in the business world. It is important to know how to handle your anxieties and stresses. As a result, here is a list of techniques and suggestions on what to do in managing your business stresses and anxieties.

Take it one day at a time. Instead of worrying about how you will get through the rest of the week or coming month, try to focus on today. Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. Focus on the present and stop trying to predict what may happen next week. Next week will take care of itself.

Castes and outcasts by Joseph Gatt

Most, if not all societies in the world, are socially stratified. You belong to certain castes whether you like it or not.

Castes could be inherited. Your parents belong to a higher caste, so do you.

Castes could be related to your level of education. The more prestigious the university you attend, the better you stand out socially in many cultures.

Castes could be related to your ethnicity. Perhaps your ethnic group is equivalent to a higher caste, or perceived as a lower caste by your community.

Wealth. Rich people often belong to higher castes. People less fortunate belong to lower castes and are outcasts. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, as the two castes don’t mingle (often the case).

Brief for Murder: Pinochet’s Apologists Five Decades On by Dr. Binoy Kampmark

During the Cold War, assassinations most foul were entertained as necessary measures to advance the set cause.  In Latin America, military regimes were keenly sponsored as reliably brutal antidotes to the Marxist tic, or at the very least the tic in waiting.  Any government deemed by Washington to be remotely progressive would become ripe targets for violent overthrow.

To this day, the murderers of Chile’s socialist president Salvador Allende, (wait, we hear the first apologist mock, he was not murdered but suicided out of choice) along with thousands of innocents continuesto receive briefs in their defence.

On September 15, Mary Anastasia O’Grady, a Wall Street Journal scratcher turned police-state boot polisher bombarded her Australian Radio National host, Tom Switzer, with the stock libels about Allende’s legacy and the military coup of September 11, 1973.  The interview will go down as one of Switzer’s poorer efforts, despite meek attempts to bring his frothing interviewee back to the bloody account opened by the military regime.

Establishing a human colony on planet Mars by Joseph Gatt

Earth is mostly oxygen and hydrogen when Mars is mostly Carbon Dioxide. So, if you were to settle on Mars, that would be the equivalent of trying to breathe in a smoke-filled room. Not the cigarette-smoke filled room, but a room where it’s all smoke and no oxygen. You couldn’t breathe.

To set up a colony on Mars, we would have to find a way to create an “oxygen and hydrogen” space on a planet where the air is 95% carbon dioxide.

How do you do that? Well there are science fiction novels and movies like Total Recall where the idea is to sett up a very large walled space on Mars, a thick wall where the carbon dioxide can’t filter in, and where the oxygen and hydrogen molecules keep reproducing, while absorbing the carbon dioxide that we humans exhale.

How To Convince An Addict To Get Help by Stan Popovich

There are many reasons why people who use drugs and alcohol do not get the help they need to overcome their addictions and other issues.

Some family members who see the people they love struggle may have a difficult time in getting them assistance.

As a result, here are seven suggestions on how to convince a person struggling with drugs and alcohol to get help.

1. A family intervention could work: The most popular way to get someone the help they need is to do a family intervention. This is when family members and an interventionist get together with the person to tell them how much they love them and that they need to get some assistance.  The person whose having a hard time listens and hopefully they become convinced to get the treatment they need.

Edmond Privat by Rene Wadlow

17 August is the birth anniversary of Edmond Privat in 1889 − a leading world citizen of the first wave of world citizen action closely associated with the League of Nations.  It was natural for Privat, a citizen of Geneva, to be drawn to the efforts of the League of Nations.

He served from 1923 to 1927 as the vice-delegate for Iran.  In the early League days, many States did not have a permanent representative to the League and so named an “intellectual personality” to represent the country.  Privat also worked at different times at the League as an interpreter from English to French.  In those days, there was no simultanious interpretation but only consequtive interpretation. The interpreter, standing near the speaker had to convey some of the same drama in his voice. Privat was an experienced orator, one of the first to make regular radio broadcasts and so was much appreciated as an interpreter. At the time, the League Secretariat staff was small, and there was a good deal of interaction among the staff and the government delegates.  Thus Privat, already a political journalist, could follow closely world events and the League efforts.

A Review Of Techniques In Managing Your Depression by Stan Popovich

Some people have a difficult time in managing their depression which can make things very challenging.

When you are in this situation, it is important to know what to do so that your mental health issues do not overwhelm you.

As a result, here are seven ways that a person can use to help conquer their depression in their life.

1. Learn how to manage your thoughts: One of the ways to overcome your depression is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make you fearful, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. Your fearful thoughts are usually not based on reality.

Alcohol And Substance Abuse Will Not Take Away Your Fears by Stan Popovich

Using drugs and alcohol will not take away your problems and fears. In the short run, they might make you feel better, but in the long run these addictions will only make things worse.

As a result, here are eight tips on how to manage your persistent fears and anxieties without using drugs and alcohol.

Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your issues. In addition, you will not feel overwhelmed with everything if you focus on one thing at a time.

The ABCs of the economy by Joseph Gatt

How do you get your “sick” economy back to work. I hope the information provided here will help “heal” your economy one way or the other.

First thing you need to know is, in modern times, there are four types of economy:

-The militarized economy: With the help of military forces, paramilitary forces or armed forces, economic agents use threats and violence to gain considerable amounts of money, often through coercion.

The militarized economy is one that uses titles for individuals. The militarized economy then often purchases products from wealthy economies that it sells at the local market, using coercion. One type of coercion is to prevent local economic agents from producing the product that they sell. Another type of coercion is to force distribution centers to sell their product. Another type of coercion is to limit the supply of essential products to artificially jack up the price.

The problem with militarized economies: first problem is such economies tend to cut corners. They often start by producing their own products before gradually selling products made in wealthy countries.

I have a personal example of that: I used to work for a militarized company whose original vocation was to sell fishing products. But, as time went by, the company started selling other companies’ products that they would vaguely claim were their own products.

Do not get depressed at your job by Stan Popovich

Some people can get depressed at their job and they do not know what to do about it.  As a result, here is a list of techniques that a person can use to make their job more satisfying.

One of the ways to manage your depression at your job is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make you fearful or depressed, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For example, you are afraid that if you do not get that job promotion then you will be stuck at your job forever. This depresses you, however your thinking in this situation is unrealistic. The fact of the matter is that there all are kinds of jobs available and just because you don’t get this job promotion doesn’t mean that you will never get one. In addition, people change jobs all the time, and you always have that option of going elsewhere if you are unhappy at your present location.

Some people get depressed for a few minutes and do not know what to do. When this happens, a person should take a deep breath and try to find something to do to get their mind off of the problem.   A person could take a walk, listen to some music, read the newspaper or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things. Doing something will get your mind off of the problem and give you confidence to do other things.
