Europe better tread carefully in the future by Christos Mouzeviris

For the past year and a half, we all been watching a terrible disaster unfolding. This time not in the Middle East or Asia, but right on our doorstep; Ukraine.

“Putin’s War”, as Western media often portray it, is anything but though. These kind of conflicts have happened many times before in history, one of such times it was Greece that suffered the consequences of the struggle between East and West, with the Greek Civil War happening back in the post WW2 ’40s.

That conflict was the first proxy war of the Cold War and represents the first example of postwar involvement on the part of the Allies in the internal affairs of a foreign country, an implementation of George F. Kennan’s containment policy.

Europe- Una Hysteria Importante – Part II by Dr. Anis H. Bajrektarevic

Economic downturn; recession of plans and initiatives;systematically ignored calls for afiscal and monetary justice for all; €-crisis; Brexit and irredentism in the UK, Spain, Belgium, France, Denmark and Italy; lasting instability in the Euro-Med theatre (debt crisis of the Europe’s south – countries scrutinized and ridiculed under the nickname PIGS, coupled with the failed states all over the MENA);terrorism; historic low with Moscowculminating in the unprecedented opened armed conflict of West with Russia on the territory of yet another Slavic useful idiot, ill-fated Ukraine, all this combined with a confrontational but in fact frightened and disoriented Washington administration; influx of predominantly Muslim refugees from Levantin numbers and configurationsunprecedented since the WWII exoduses (with an institutionalized racism in the Western migration policy while giving to fleeing Ukrainians diametrically different treatment); consequential growth of far-right parties who– by peddling reductive messages and comparisons – are exploiting fearsof otherness, that are nowamplified with already urging healthlabour and social justice concerns; generational unemployment and socio-culturalanxieties, in ricochet of sanctions; long-ago ‘prophesised’ than doctored health, post-C-19 and energy ‘crises’, oil anti-diplomacy; painful de-dollarization as well as the Sino-US trade wars, while rifting in dilemma to either letting Bolivarismor supporting Monroeism…

Strikingly, there is a very little publicdebate enhanced in Europe about it. What is even more worrying is the fact that any self-assessing questioning of Europe’s involvement and past policies in the Middle East, and Europe’s East is simply off-agenda. Immaculacy of Brussels and infallibilityof Atlantic-Central Europe-led EU is unquestionable. Corresponding with realities or complying witha dogma?

Query #poem by Jan Sand

“It sets on fire what might inspire
The necessities that life might require.
Clean water, air, fresh green grass, and trees,
An atmosphere to neither roast nor freeze.
These are essentials on demand to please.
Are these simplicities beyond our means?”

Europe: Una Hysteria Importante – (Part one) by Dr.

And, just when we thought – it can’t get worse, just when we thought that the history judgement can be escaped and that Europe can avoid inevitable – acceptance that there is no more moral triumph of the west (ever since dizzy 2020), the devastating earthquake reduced foundations of the western civilisational superiority to a rubble:arrests of the top officials of the most democ-ratic EU institution of all – the Euro Parliament, and extensive raids that are still ongoing.[1]The very fundaments of Europe are shaking.

New European Structures: Will They Have A Creative Impact? by Rene Wadlow

The first session of the newly created European Political Community met in Prague on 6 October with 43 heads of State or Government present and the President of Ukraine by video.  This  new structure is largely due to the efforts of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, who, during the French presidency of the European Union stressed the need for the creation of a European body without the Russian Federation which is a member of the Organization for Security and Coopeeration in Europe (OSCE)  and without the U.S.A. present in NATO.

The European Political Community has the European Union states at its core but also states not part of the EU such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Lichtenstein.  The European Political Cpmmunity also has states that one does not usually consider as “European” such as Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Swiss say no to new citizenship rule

Voters in Switzerland have rejected a move to make it even harder for foreigners to obtain citizenship.

In a referendum, they voted 64% against a bid to revive the practice of approving citizenship candidates by secret ballot and scrapping appeals. Secret ballots were outlawed five years ago by the Supreme Court, which judged them to be discriminatory.

Switzerland has one of Europe's highest numbers of foreign-born residents - more than 20%. Many Swiss said not allowing voters to have the final say on who became a citizen violated the country's system of direct democracy. However, opponents of Sunday's poll, which was called by the nationalist Swiss People's Party, suspect the real agenda behind it was not Swiss democracy, but how best to keep certain groups out of Switzerland, our correspondent adds.

The people can always sense when the motives are racist and fascist and their answer justifies the fact!

Europe fuel protests

Fuel protests triggered by rising oil prices have spread to more countries across Europe, with thousands of fishermen on strike.

Union leaders said Portugal's entire coastal fleet stayed in port on Friday, while in Spain, 7,000 fishermen held protests at the agriculture ministry. French fishermen have been protesting for weeks, with Belgian and Italian colleagues also involved.

UK and Dutch lorry drivers held similar protests earlier this week. The strike reflects anger at the rising cost of fuel, with oil prices above $130 a barrel. Trade unions say the cost of diesel has become prohibitively high, after rising 300% over the past five years. Wholesale fish prices, meanwhile, have been static for 20 years.

They drive the European family is a bankruptcy and they are doing nothing to help! In the end EU is going to be European penniless!

It was the Mohammed cartoons, now …the Koran film

The Dutch right-wing politician Geert Wilders has posted a controversial film critical of Islam's holy book, the Koran, on the internet. The opening scenes show a copy of the Koran, followed by footage of the attacks on the US on 11 September 2001.

The 15-minute film was posted on video-sharing website LiveLeak. Its planned release had sparked angry protests in Muslim countries. The Dutch government has distanced itself from the views of Mr. Wilders.

The film is called "Fitna", a Koranic term sometimes translated as "strife". Dutch broadcasters have declined to show it.

Graphic images from the bomb attacks on London in July 2005 and Madrid in March 2004 are also shown.

Scenes from a beheading and pictures of the Dutch director Theo van Gogh, who was murdered by a radical Islamist in 2004, are also included. The film ends with someone turning pages of a Koran, followed by a tearing sound.

It was natural that something like that was coming after all action brings reaction and the extreme Muslims were till now the only ones to act so it’s the turn of extreme European to react especially after what happened with the Mohamed cartoons and all the demonstrations in most of the European cities.

The fascinating thing about all these is that the people who will find the chance to talk about freedom of speech and the right to show whatever they want are the ones who if ever come in power will shut the mouths of everyone!
