Nobel Peace Prize to Woman-Life-Freedom by Rene Wadlow
The Nobel Peace Prize for 2023 was awarded to Narges Mohammadi, imprisoned woman Iranian activist for her efforts fighting against the death penalty in Iran and as a symbol of the wider movement of protests under the cry of “Zan-Zendegi-Azadi: Woman-Life-Freedom”.
Narges Mohammadi has been convicted five times and sentenced to a total of 31 years in prison for her work against the discrimination and oppression of women in Iran. Protests have grown since the death of 22-year old Jina Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022 despite strong government repression with some 500 persons killed and many arrested.
