Cultural jihad

If what happened with the Mohammad cartoons a few months ago now we manage to do it our selves in the name of peace!!! In the last issue of Ovi magazine there is an article about Berlin Opera Company.

Kirsten Harms, the director of the opera company wanted to protect the Muslim’s sensitivity to the face of Mohammad and she didn’t say who’s going to protect art and music’s sensitivity from actions like that!

Further more the whole issue has to do with one scene where Idomeneo, tragic hero from homer’s Iliad that Mozart made an opera is entering holding the heads of Christ, Mohammad and Poseidon. So, lets say that she was really worrying for sensitive religion freaks, why only the Muslims and not the Christians? Does their sensitivity counts more? And what about Poseidon. He’s not just religion he’s human history’s heritage.

As the article says in Ovi magazine, Mrs. Harms did more harm than good and let’s hope that she has the brains to recall her decision and instead call everybody to watch the premier and be a reason to start a conversation. After all for whoever has seen the opera this is a good chance to start a conversation upon the role of gods in human life.

Check Ovi magazine.

The last few months have been a number of Ovi magazine copycats and Ovi magazine imitators and they have tried using names like theovimagazine, ovimagazine, the ovi magazine and others to excuse their minor and pity existence. However they tried to manipulate google and other search engines they failed for one and simple reason, their inability to be unique, to have opinion, to say the truth. How can a lier, a copycat, a bad imitation survive next to Ovi magazine, something so unique and real, a place for exchange ideas and respect to democracy. imitating a magazine like Ovi magazine it doesn't only show inability to do something, anything original but it shows clear that they are enemies of exactly what Ovi magazine represents, they are little fascists, enemies of freedom of speech and anything democratic.

There is only one original Ovi magazine and you can find it only here, the rest are just ...minor brains, petite thieves, parasites you can only feel sad and sorry for their existence.

Blair's Labour Party

Where Tony Blair did led the Labour Party and what does Gordon Brown thinking to lead it?

Reading today’s Ovi magazine and the article about Tony Blair, I felt a bit disappointed been able to remember the ‘good’ old days where the Labour Party was fighting for jobs, education and health and seen a Labour Party nowadays fighting in Iraq under the commands of George W. Bush! How sad end!

Olympic trash

Only the idea that the next Olympics are going to happen in China is enough to make me think if I really want to watch them. In the last issue of the Ovi magazine there is an article about the Olympic Games and proves how little they have to do with the Olympic Games’ idea.

I still find it hard to believe some of the records these people make. They look so inhuman. How is it possible for a man or a woman to run faster than any animal in this world; jump higher than any and longer than any. How many drugs they have taken and why don’t they say the truth about athletes and record holders on how they died and young the died?

The Midas nudge

Talking about luck in the last Ovi magazine there is an article which says: “There is a notable difference in the dynamic social philosophies current in the USA and countries like Finland and comparable European countries.

In Finland, which is a small country with an overwhelming disposition towards social rationality, there is a realistic evaluation of its limited resources and capabilities and an understanding that the most valuable resource of the country is its citizens. There are fine creative artists, designers, engineers, scientists, writers, and all the other human specialties in both countries but the treatment of these valuable people differs in the USA and Finland.

The much larger US population has a much larger pool to draw from and the opportunities for perfection of capabilities and talents is treated as a high privilege there. The treatment of the arts in the public education system is filigreed with contempt in contrast to those capabilities which might be found useful in business operations. It is ironic that all of the arts which require great talent and long years of concentrated development are sources controlling large parts of the financial economy.”

I still think that the number of people gabling or playing all these kinds of lotto are far more that I would think of or comparing it with the population. I think in the end you are coming n the conclusion that the only way people find to escape from their mediocre life is to win the …lotto!

Bryan Adams Live

"Hartwall Areena was rocked by Bryan Adams last night as he continued his 2006 World Tour with a two-hour set packed with over twenty songs from his 25-year back catalogue.
Despite the arena being a couple of thousand people short of capacity, the enthusiastic audience cheered, clapped, whooped, swayed, danced and sang loud enough to disguise that fact. "
This is how Asa butcher starts his critic in Ovi magazine about the Bryan Adams concert he was. I always thought that it was odd how much you enjoy a live concirt even if you don't like the performer. Especially when the singer (in this case) is willing to sing a lot of his old hits and not only promote his latest record.

A pause or a stop to Turkey

In today’s Ovi magazine there is an article with what the president of the EU commission Jose Barroso said the other evening to the reporters in Brussels that EU must stop after Bulgaria and Romania the enlargement till other issues will be shorted out.

This is what we call politics. Yeah, give a pause for two …three centuries? Till the Kurds have their own independent country and turkey has shrunk in the west part of the last pieces of the Ottoman Empire with Istanbul as the capital?

I presume some maps that have often come in public are hinting the future truth! Then they might have a chance. At least they will be more Europe than the Middle East state they are now!

The amazing thing is the timing Mr. Barroso chosen. A few weeks before turkey will have to face the European council and the results of the investigations/. There is not even one EU that was happy with turkey joining and if the UK and especially Tony wants them in EU then the Turkey’s people should make sure what he wants in return because he wants something and is not going to be small.

City folks

I think I liked even the title in this Ovi magazine’s article. I mean we never think of all these small or big ‘folks’ with four or more legs that live with us in all the cities all around the world.

Made me think of a small reddish brown fox I see often in my neighborhood while a group of rabbits or hares, never been sure, parading from the other side. And I live in the suburbs of Helsinki. What desperation for food has brought them so close to humans?

Is Bin Laden dead?

In today’s Ovi magazine there is an article with a report from a French magazine about Bin Laden’s death last month from typhoid.

It might sounds like a conspiracy theory but from one side no other news’ agency has reported anything similar, what they have mention is that the French defense ministry will punish the responsible in the French secret services for the leak of the information to the media!

And that’s the second part, is any true? Or it was just somebody’s misleading information? It seems that the last two years we are listening every so often whet we wish, which raises another question, is terrorism going to end if Bin Laden dies? I find that impossible anymore.

Cartoons in Ovi magazine

For the last issue of the daily Ovi magazine among others we have a cover about cartoons. Cartoons have been my all time thing. When I get a newspaper or a magazine the first thing I look for is the cartoons.

In Ovi magazine we have a series of mainly strip cartoons, starting with the worms, then life undercover and the showbizz and of course many others!

The worms’ family strip was my first strip cartoon to be published back in early 80s in a monthly magazine then weekly. Later the same decade while working for a daily newspaper I was asked to draw a …frog for an article. I did the sketch but then I found out that the frog I had drawn looked more like a dinosaur, you see I wanted to make a frog that could walk and act like a human. That’s how Dino started and in the first ideas I did he was in a lab where a scientist was psychoanalyzing him!

I want to fly...

In the last Ovi magazine, 23rd of September Jan Sand expresses his love and will to fly in a brilliant article. That’s something I loved to do since I was a kid and it has been my all time dream. Just like Mr. Sand says in his article: The dreams of centuries ranging from the old tale of Daedalus and Icarus through the efforts of DaVinci, Cayley, Stringfellow, Lilienthal and finally, the Wright Brothers is routinely realized today as thousands of huge gleaming metal monsters, weighing tons, float into the sky as effortlessly (but with a bit more noise) as soap bubbles…

To end his article with: I would love to make my transatlantic flight in a plane constructed of transparent plastic so I would be sitting on air and zooming through thunderheads while the loony pilot barrel rolled and tailspinned and looped de looped to the sound of screaming gagging passengers.. That surely would squelch Tinker Bell’s disdain.!!!
