Nagorno-Karabakh: Conflict Resolution Measures Needed by Rene Wadlow
On 8 August 2023, Arayik Harutyunyan, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, the Armenian name for the Armenian populated area of the Nagorono-Karabakh made an urgent appeal to the “International Community” to draw attention to the fact that the people of the Republic of Artsakh find themselves “in the midst of horrowing genocide confronted with an imminent threat to their very existence and to the homeland they hold dear.”
He specifically called upon the member states of the U.N. Security Council to convene a meeting to discuss the genocide and the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the blockade of Artsakh by the Azerbaijan military. He added that preventing genocide is a collective responsibility of the international community.
