Latest estimates by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) show that forced labour and forced marriage have increased significantly in the last five years. 10 million more people were in modern slavery in 2021 compared to 2016 global estimates, bringing the total to 50 million worldwide. Women and children remain disproportionately vulnerable.
Although modern slavery is not defined in law, it is used as an umbrella term covering practices such as forced labour, debt bondage, forced marriage, and human trafficking. Essentially, it refers to situations of exploitation that a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, deception, and/or abuse of power.
Modern slavery occurs in almost every country in the world, and cuts across ethnic, cultural and religious lines. More than half (52 per cent) of all forced labour and a quarter of all forced marriages can be found in upper-middle income or high-income countries.

Whilst the Good Old Party tries desperately to avoid any MAGA confrontation, circumstances and reality force Republicans to get ready – MAGA or not – for the next presidential elections in just two years. And many in the Republican-verse realize that two years is very little time to waste in internal conflict and let the Democrats parade to victory.
Actually this is where Trump and his cycle have put all their bets. Too little time to build a momentum for a Trump alternative; funny thing now, they say that half looking at Ron DeSantis’ direction while believing that MAGA rednecks are the mighty force inside contemporary Republican Party.
But that is true only if you look at the Republican Party through the MAGA kaleidoscope and while he wishes to be, GOP is not Trump’s Party in more. He has a strong hold in the base, this is true. He also has a strong hold in the backyard redneck America; the scared bigots who poison for decades American democracy with their racism and prejudice. But while this is a very loud and active crowd it is NOT the majority in Republican and conservative America. Actually it is their loud cacophony that has awoken conservative America stating daily more and more doubts over Trump’s continuation in the Party.
